one: object of sentimental value
When thinking of an object that holds sentimental value to our family i would have to use the phrase: object as house. When an artist creates a piece of artwork, it has sentimental value to his or her self because it was created by him or her. Our house, in the same way, holds sentimental value to our family because it was built almost entirely by my father. With previous experience in construction, the help of friends in their spare time, and only a mason to do brick work, my dad built our house. This not only made our home sentimental but also very inexpensive. He designed and fabricated every thing from the house to its interior furnishing.

two: useful piece
three: aspects of a room
When one thinks about the hallway, they automatically would think of a space that serves as the circulation between individual rooms and not giving in much more thought than that. The hallway though, can often be a space where memories are created, as it was for myself. The hallway was a place where i could play catch with my dad indoors, it was a place were i could span hot wheel car tracks from one end to the other and race cars up and down, etc.
four: memorable event
While constructing our house my father was given a great deal of input by his father. That same knowledge was passed down to myself when my father decided to add an addition to our house.
I have the share the same experience as a hallway serving much more than a circulated path. I have made a lot of memories in our hallway to where I now percieve it as an elongated room. I can descibe our hallway by multiple adjectives to describe each memory; making it a place that exceeds its functionality.
ReplyDeleteMemories:
1. Tragic accident. When I was 4, I accidently left the bathroom sink on while we were gone to church and we came back find the hallway flooded. We replace the carpet in the hallway with hardwood floors and replaced the carpet in all the back bedrooms. As much as I got it trouble it later worked towards my advantage...
2. Entertaining. My best friend and I use to roller skate up and down the hallway for hours listening to the song "What if God was one of us"
3. Display. I use to display all my artwork that I brought home from school along the walls of our hallway.
4. Holding booth. My parents "Santa" use to make us anxiously wait in the hallway on Christmas mornings until they were done 'looking' at all of our gifts. Our hallway doors opened right into the den, so we were just a step away from seeing our BIG surprises. The anticipation drove me nuts.
I think I was easily fascination with the hallway when I was young because of my body's proportion to the space. In my young, naive, and imaginative childhood years; I was the hallway as much more than a circulated path. As I grew older, the reality of it came true. But I will always remember the memories I made in my hallway...as an extended playroom from my bedroom.
